Louis Vuitton PFW 2011 ♥ Kate Moss lights one up

Oh Katey, Katey, Katey. Watch this short clip of Kate Moss on the LV Paris Fashion Week 2011 runway lighting one up! Plus pics.

I personally don't condemn smokers, being an ex-regular smoker myself who is now reduced to alcohol-induced social smoking or the occassional coffee & cig. Though, I definitely wouldn't endorse it. I started at a young age and if I had to do it again I definitely would not! Just because it wreaks havoc on your skin, breathe, wallet, teeth and height! I always tell myself I'd be at least an inch or two taller if I hadn't started smoking so young...ahem, Kate Moss is one of the world's shortest super models after all!

I feel like it went well with LV's bad ass theme, a Winter/Fall collection put together by the infamous Marc Jacobs. I feel a lot of bloggers and big journalists feel pressured (not all, but some) to be like "NO. This is awful, this is bad, smoking is bad" because it would not sit well with the public if they encouraged this behaviour! Think about all the impressionable kiddies. But c'mon, I'm pretty sure photographing celebrities smoking in the tabloids and movies makes an even bigger impression on younglings.

Since this is my blog and I hope my readers have opinions and minds of their own, I will speak truth! And the truth is, it is a entertainment show and Kate Moss' smokey habit is not exactly a shocking revelation. So, I am okay with it. Obviously we don't want little teens who are watching the show to see this behaviour and think it is cool- that is what parental guidance is for after all! We can't exactly blame LV, as their target audience and image is not for or to be role models to young kids.

HOWEVER, just for your general knowledge, other than being a leading cause for lung and throat cancer (very painful, tragic, nasty stuff to deal with...), smoking also has a lot of other nasty side effects. Besides being filled with hundreds of toxic poisons (formaldehyde people!! which is used to preserve dead tissue) smoking causes:

Bad breathe (oh ya, brushing your teeth won't really help that much unless you drink lots and lots of water as well)
Dehydration of the mouth (not a great feeling when you're trying to have a conversation with a cute guy!) and skin, which makes your skin look dull and dry
Yellowing of the fingers (ok ok, this applies more to long-term smokers but it is not fixable by a good manicure)
Yellowing teeth
- supposedly Stunts Growth
- a deflated wallet, money you could have spent on shopping, charity or food
CELLULITE (yes, look it up!)

Cellulite is already a problem for most women without the addition of dehydrating cigs, which makes cellulite more pronounced. Smoking reduces blood circulation to and weakens the capillaries (which also happens when one is overweight), this also weakens the skin around those problem areas making cellulite more pronounced. And for those of you, who like me, enjoy a coffee with that cancer stick- well...we're fucked. hahaha, no just kidding. But coffee is also known to make cellulite more visible :(. Ohh, the pleasures in life....

Also, I purely believe that smoking reducing appetite is purely a myth backed up by complete self-fulfilling prophecy (mind over matter). When I'm hungry, I am hungry and I know tons of people who eat and smoke at the same time. So if you think smoking will reduce your appetite and make you skinny, it probably won't work. The only thing that will work is healthy eating and exercise, which is hard to do if you are a regular smoker!

I love Kate Moss & Marc Jacobs. I think the show was a massive success!

Oh, did I mention it was "No Smoking Day" in the UK??? And I'm pretty sure it is illegal to smoke indoors/on the catwalk...when has that ever stopped anybody though eh?

What do you think about Kate's smoking stunt?

Sundaylove.xo

P.S. I dislike people who bombard you with anti-smoking facts and judge you as a WHOLE because of one nasty habit. I believe most smokers are well aware of the effects of smoking and quitting isn't always as easy as it looks. Like alcoholics and substance abusers, quitting smoking is a lifelong journey.

We Are All Animals ♫ Self Image, Confidence & Beauty.

Hello beautiful people.

Play me: Animal ♫ Neon Trees

I have been pretty lousy on the updating front. Been so busy and uninspired. Trying to look for a job, figure out school and playing with T-Shirt design ideas. Although that whole venture probably won't happen for mooonths since there is just so much to get together! Gathering materials, spending time making samples, testing them out on the market, finding wholesalers, figuring out where I want to launch...etc, etc.

But what I really wanted to talk to you guys about is that I just came back from my first walkthrough/rehearsal. I'm walking a fashion show in my uni, which will be held at the Empire Landmark hotel in Vancouver at the end of April. Pretty excited for that! A lot of the designers aren't quite set in stone yet, although I hear FCUK is on board. Here is what I do know: there will be 3 different themes.

Theme 1:The first designer, we are told, is primarily a bridal gowns designer who also does custom-made dresses- so her designs will be much more flowy and feminine with contemporary music.

Theme 2: Consists of several different designers, collections will go with heavier bass/electro/trance music and will have edgier clothing like leather jackets etc.

Theme 3: This theme will probably be set to go with indie music, and it will be even edgier with a more Avant-garde feel.

There are 19 models walking the show and we don't know who will be walking what theme as for now, but fingers crossed I get placed in one I feel comfortable in!

Our promo/portfolio photoshoot will be taking place this Sunday. Nervous! I really hope it's not a situation where everyone else is staring at you waiting for their turn. I really hate that. It will be a basic shoot, just dark jeans and a white top. I'm not sure as for now whether we bring our own or if they will be provided because it is hard to fit my butt into jeans! So we'll see how that goes...maybe I'll have an excuse to go shopping this week.

So I think I will be blogging my journey on the show, how I feel, what it's like and yeah. I'm just excited to see the clothes, perform and meet new people. Already met a few crazy characters today. I always seem to get along with guys better...is that just me? I don't know, I did try to be friendly though! And I did meet a few darling girls.

Here is the most important thing I wanted to get out there:

I just wanted to talk to you guys about self image and feeling beautiful in your skin. I have to admit I did feel a little self conscious today. It didn't quite occur to me that I would be the only normal sized girl there! I think everybody is beautiful when they are at their best so I'm definitely not bashing skinny girls, you are the way you are. I try to promote confidence at every size and shade but I will admit that when I'm standing next to a girl with thighs the size of my calf, I'm going to feel a little self conscious! But one of the event coordinators (a sassy little miss!) was super sweet and told me not to worry about it and that they chose me because I'm a good walker and that they think I'm beautiful.

So. That is definitely something I will have to deal with! And I wanted to share that with you guys because I feel like a lot of women can relate feeling self conscious or "less" about themselves around certain other people. Maybe you feel too skinny, too curvy, too short, too tall, your skin isn't as great, your teeth- whatever it may be! The funny thing is one of the tiny girls there asked me whether I was wearing heels because otherwise she would feel bad cause she'd feel short! And that made me kind of laugh on the inside because while I'm here feeling too fat compared to her and everybody else, she was there feeling too short compared to me. It really put things in perspective for me.

When I pointed that out, she immediately said "No! Don't worry about that. I think you are perfect. Honestly I think some of us girls here are too skinny." and that really touched me. We should all be that loving and supportive of each other!

I have a feeling that this whole project will force me to really work on feeling comfortable in my skin, and focusing on myself rather than others around me. There are about 9 other models I haven't met yet, but hey I figure if I'm the only 'non-straight' size model they chose I should feel pretty special!

We'll see how it all goes :).

I just wanted to let you guys know that in my journey in growing comfortable and walking out on the runway- working my curvy booty- that you my darling reader, and all the women around the world are the ones who give me the courage and confidence to do it alongside all the size 2s and 0s.

We all have the power to be beautiful. Let's help each other embrace that.

Enjoy the song! It's been stuck in my head all day now.

Here we go again
I kinda wanna be more than friends
So take it easy on me
I'm afraid
You're never satisfied
Here we go again
We're sick like animals
We play pretend
You're just
A cannibal
And I'm afraid
I won't get out alive
I won't sleep tonight

Oh oh
I want some
More
Oh oh
What are you waiting for
Take a bite of
My heart tonight
Oh oh
I want some
More
Oh oh
What are you waiting for
What are you waiting for
Say goodbye to my heart
Tonight

Here we are again
I feel the chemicals kickin' in
It's getting heavy
And I wanna run
And hide
I wanna run and hide
I do it every time
You're killin' me now
And I won't be
Denied by you
The animal inside of you

Oh oh
I want some more
Oh oh
What are you waiting for
Take a bite of my heart tonight
Oh oh
I want some more
Oh oh
What are you waiting for
What are you waiting for
Say goodbye to my heart tonight

Hush, hush The world is quiet
Hush, hush We both can't fight it
It's us that made this mess
Why can't you understand?
Whoa, I won't sleep tonight

Here we go again [3x]

Oh oh
I want some more
Oh oh
What are you waiting for
Take a bite of my heart tonight
Oh oh
I want some more
Oh oh
What are you waiting for
What are you waiting for
What are you waiting

Here we go again [3x]
Say goodbye to my heart tonight

Oh oh
I want some more
Oh oh
What are you waiting for
Take a bite of my heart tonight
Oh oh
I want some more
Oh oh
What are you waiting for
What are you waiting for
Say goodbye to my heart tonight

Love, peace, beauty.
